Creating the Right Balance Between Fundamental and Technical Trading
It is unrealistic for a trader to participate in the full market of tradable stocks, and a selection mechanism must be employed to reduce the number of possible stocks competing for trading capital. Essentially, there are two main methodologies used, namely, Fundamental Analysis and Technical Analysis. With today’s economic conditions and increased price volatility, using only a technical approach to trading without consideration for the fundamental factors, is not the best trading strategy. Though each one has its own merits, combining the two types of analysis can generate a short list of stocks with huge potential trading opportunities.
In this presentation, Tom Joseph will first discuss the various fundamental data fields and what they mean. Next, he will help develop a selection plan using the top fundamental categories. Using a fundamental scanner, Tom will walk the attendees through the entire process of scanning thousands of stocks using the top fundamental categories. Once a list of stocks is selected using the Fundamental criteria, Tom will discuss how to look for trends or bottoming patterns using the technical studies available in MetaStock.
