Broad Market Indicators and Data

A set of Broad Market Indicators, Experts and Layouts were added to MetaStock 9.0. The data for the Broad Market indicators was specifically written for each data vendor, because most data vendors do not use the same symbology for indices, futures and market indicators. If you are upgrading from MetaStock 9.0 to MetaStock 10.1 or higher and you are changing data vendors then you must follow these directions so that the Broad Market Indicators will work with your new vendor. For example, if you are a current Reuters DataLink user and are upgrading to the MetaStock Pro for QuoteCenter data vendor then you need to follow these directions for the Broad Market Indicators to work in MetaStock. If you are not changing data vendors then you do not need to follow these steps.

• Delete the current Broad Market Indicators in MetaStock.
  • In MetaStock, choose Tools|Indicator Builder from the menu. In the Indicator Builder select all the indicators that begin with "BM" and then choose Delete.
  • In MetaStock, choose Tools|Expert Advisor from the menu. In the Expert Advisor select all the Expert Advisors that begin with "BM" and then choose Delete.
• Delete the Broad Market Data and Layouts.
  • Using Windows Explorer, browse to C:\MetaStock Data\BM Data. Either rename or delete this folder. This folder contains the Broad Market data specific to your data vendor.
  • Using Windows Explorer, browse to C:\Program Files\Equis\MetaStock\Charts (this is the default install location. If you installed to a different location, the files will be located under MetaStock\Charts in that location.). Delete the three files; "BM Monetary.mwl", "BM NASDAQ.mwl" and "BM NYSE.mwl"
• Uninstall your current version of MetaStock.
• In Windows select Start|Settings|Control Panel
• Open Add/Remove Programs
• Select MetaStock 9.0 and choose remove
• Install MetaStock 10.1 or higher.

Explorer Reports and upgrading to MetaStock 10.1 or higher

Explorer Reports from any previous version of MetaStock will not upgrade to version 10.1 or higher. If you wish to save any Explorer Reports please print them out or save the list of securities the Exploration was run on before upgrading. Of course, Explorations can always be run again to regenerate the reports.
